The Education Authority has provided us with the below information regarding Industrial Action planned for Thursday 18 January.
"Further to correspondence issued from TNC Management Side on 10th January 2024, outlining the intention of the five teaching unions (INTO, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU and UTU) to participate in strike action on Thursday 18th January 2024, the Education Authority (EA) has now been notified by the four non-teaching unions (GMB, NIPSA, Unison and UNITE the Union) that members across the organisation are also being called to take part in strike action on Thursday 18th January 2024 in relation to a trade dispute linked to the EA Pay and Grading Review. Unite the Union has also advised of additional days of strike action. The details of all the action are summarised below.
Details of Strike Action:
Teaching Trade Unions INTO, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU and UTU •
Thursday 18th January beginning 00.01am and ending at 11.59pm.
Non-Teaching Trade Unions UNISON and GMB •
Thursday 18th January beginning 00.01am and ending at 11.59pm.
NIPSA
Thursday 18th January a minimum 2-hour stoppage commencing from the members’ normal start time.
Unite the Union
Wednesday 17th January beginning 00.01am and continuing up to Friday 19th January when the action will conclude at 23.59pm (3-days strike action); Wednesday 24th January beginning 00.01am and continuing up to Friday 26th January when the action will conclude at 23.59pm (3-days strike action); Thursday 1st February beginning 00.01am and continuing up to Friday 2nd February when the action will conclude at 23.59pm (2-days strike action)"
The Senior Leadership Team has conducted a risk assessment of the likely impact of this industrial action on the health and safety of our school community.
As an outcome of that assessment, Fivemiletown College will be closed to all pupils on Thursday 18 January 2024.
